Handlebar Open House 
Davidson-Wilson Basement
The Handlebar is a student-run bike shop that aims to increase bicycle use and knowledge on the Dickinson campus and in Carlisle Community. Through hands-on learning and skill sharing, students, faculty, staff and Carlisle community members can learn to fix a bicycle, maintain a bicycle, and become well versed in biking laws and etiquette.

 A Family Story: The Troussoff Collection exhibit
Friends of the Library Reading Area, Library, Lower Level
Learn the story of the emigre Troussoff family and their connection to Russian art, literature, and philosophy.  The twentieth-century postcards, letters, and books on display are part of a collection donated by Gail Troussoff Marks (Class of 1973).

Destinations: A History of Study Abroad at Dickinson College exhibit
Waidner-Spahr Library, Archives, Lower Level
View a collection of stories and student memories chronicling the timeline of Dickinson's unique study abroad programs around the world including Bologna, Brisbane, Yaounde, Beijing, Medellin, Norwich, Toulouse, Bremen, Malaga, Nagoya, Queretaro, Moscow, Seoul, and Malaga.

Gettysburg Museum, Visitor Center and Battlefield Bus Tour *
Join Civil War historian and author Eric Wittenberg ’83 as you tour the battlefields, local attractions and visitor center in this historic town. A light lunch will be included. Preregistration is required. $45

8:30 a.m.

Moderate Yoga*
Through a series of asanas that stretch, strengthen and relax the body and mind, participants build core strength and develop flexibility. With a compassionate focus on proper alignment and the integration of breath with movement, participants find ease and well-being within the postures, leading to a renewed connection with self. Previous yoga knowledge is encouraged but not necessary. Drop-in classes available this weekend for a special price of $10 for Dickinson alumni. Offered at the Simply Well Comprehensive Wellness Center, 28 S. Pitt Street, Carlisle.

U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center Tour 
A chance to explore the center’s exhibits as well as their outdoor trail featuring buildings, equipment and exhibits from the Civil War through World War II. Transportation will be provided for those who have pre-registered through the registration form. Please be ready to depart on the shuttles from ATS parking lot by 9 a.m. FREE

Trout Gallery Exhibit
Civil War Era Drawings from the Becker Collection
This exhibition features drawings by Joseph Becker and his fellow artists who worked as artist-reporters for Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper.  These artists were charged with observing, drawing, and sending back for publication images of the Civil War.

Career Consulting Appointments
Confidential appointments are available with Lin Koenig ’73, alumni career counselor, on any aspect of your career. Typical subjects are tapping into Dickinson career resources, changing jobs or careers, graduate and professional school, writing a resume, networking and interviewing. Bike Ride to Lunch at the Dickinson Farm
Take a ride down to the farm with Lindsey Lyons, Assistant Director of the Center for Sustainability Education and Tyce Herman, Project Coordinator for CSE. The ride is about 7 miles and will take approximately 40 minutes. All ability levels welcome. The group will depart from the Kaufman/DPS parking lot at 11 a.m. Participants must be registered for the Farm Lunch to ride. Reserve your bike here.

Noon Lunch at the Dickinson Farm*
A light lunch buffet will be served while participants are given the opportunity to see a cooking demonstration, take a tour and learn about day-to-day operations at the Farm. A bus providing transportation will leave the ATS parking lot at 11:30 a.m. Preregistration is required. $15

New this year: guests may participate in a bike ride to the farm. Space is limited, so be sure to register for the lunch and chose your transportation preference here.

  Lunch options are also available at the Quarry, Union Station and the Underground. Hours for these and the Biblio Café available at the Welcome Center.

12:30 p.m. McAndrews Fund for Athletics 15th Annual Golf Tournament *
Mayapple Golf Club
The fee includes 18 holes, cart, driving range and a light lunch (lunch available at 11:30 a.m.). Proceeds benefit the McAndrews Fund for Athletics. $100 per player ($85 for young alumni Class of 2003 and younger)

Inside Dickinson Sessions
Join Faculty and students as they discuss the many fascinating things they are doing at Dickinson. Check online at Dickinson.edu/alumniweekend to see what sessions are being offered.
  • Inside Dickinson Magazine-
    Meet the members of the Office of Marketing & Communications who produce the award-winning quarterly Dickinson Magazine, and hear from them how they collaborate to compile the best possible editorial, photographic and multimedia content, for the magazine and beyond. 
  • Sustainability at Dickinson-
    Attend this informative session to discover how Dickinson is  creating, enhancing and connecting opportunities for learning about sustainability in and out of the classroom. Meet at the Center for Sustainable Education.  A tour of the Biodiesel shop will be offered at 3:30 p.m. for anyone interested. Kaufman Hall 190.
  • Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Services  One-third of the LGBTQ community seriously considers leaving their institution of higher education due to the challenging environment while completing their undergraduate education (Rankin et al., 2010). As of fall 2012, Dickinson College launched a new Office of LGBTQ services. Come engage with the Director of LGBTQ Services and learn about some of the new initiatives started at Dickinson this past year and where this new Office is headed. Alumni will be encouraged to share their ideas, their history, and begin to think about how the alumni community can be involved with LGBTQ and ally students in the Dickinson community.

Visit some of our new and updated spaces: Waidner Admissions House, Founders Hall, Althouse, the Rector Science Complex, Kaufman Hall, the Center for Sustainable Living (aka the Treehouse) and Biddle Field. Meet at the Waidner Admissions House.


4:30 p.m.
LGBTQ Reception sponsored by the Office of LGBTQ Services Stop by to engage with Dickinson’s Director of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Services. Learn about some of the new services provided by the Office and discuss ways that alumni near and far can make an impact for our LGBTQA student community. Desserts will be provided by the Office of LGBTQ Services. Stern Great Room

5:30 p.m. Celebration Reception  
The pleasure of your company is requested at this reception to kick-off the weekend. Dressy casual attire recommended. FREE

Join us for a delicious meal and great company at this year’s Celebration Dinner. Highlights include the announcement of Class Gifts and jazz music following dinner. Dressy casual attire is welcome. $10

Enjoy a band party in the Upper Quad sponsored by Beta Theta Pi, featuring Baltimore’s Freak Accident, performing their own brand of geezer-punk music from the ’70’s, ’80’s and ’90’s.

10:30 a.m.–noon Engage Your Mind! Educational Sessions
Join fellow Alumni as they show how they’ve engaged the world since graduation. Check online at dickinson.edu/alumniweekend to see what sessions are being offered.
  • A Decade of Digging HAITI Out One Person At A Time- Peter J Anderson ’73 will provide visual context and comments on ServeHAITI’s efforts since 2001 to improve the standard of living and reduce the mortality rates of the residents of Gran Bois region of Haiti through the operation of a medical facility and related programs and services. Peter will discuss the challenges, frustrations and rewards as the non-profit has confronted the anarchy and corruption of Haiti’s government, the earthquake and its aftermath of 2010, hurricanes and the cholera epidemic in trying to care for the patients. A quick read: “The Big Truck That Went By” by Jonathan Katz similarly chronicling the NGO efforts in Haiti.
  • Becoming a Fiction Writer- Join Laura Kamoie '92, also known as New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Laura Kaye, to discuss how to pursue a career as a fiction writer. Based on her experiences publishing a dozen novels, Laura will talk about how to start and finish a novel, joining writing communities that will help you grow, finding and querying agents and publishers, the process of publication, how to build a readership, and more!
  • Visually Stalking Dickinson– Learn from Dickinson’s own Carl Socolow ’77 how to capture the best shot in the moment.  Meet in front of Old West with your camera and learn the best angles, light etc. to capture the perfect photo. Discussion will also include an esthetic and philosophic discussion on visually illustrating our alma mater and the issues involved in photographing at an institution of higher learning as well as in the world at large.

Alumni Book Signing Eric J. Wittenberg, '83, is an award-winning Civil War historian who specializes in cavalry operations during the Gettysburg Campaign.
